At no point in the history of D&D did the number and utter stupidity of monsters reach a higher point than with AD&D 2e. Zack and Steve delve into the madness once again with a look at the Al-Qadim Monstrous Compendium Appendix.

Wow, holy crap. I posted something just like this today too. I'm not ripping you off, I swear!
No problem. It's not my stuff anyway, I just like the "D&D, WTF?" thing they've been doing over at SomethingAwful.com, so I link to it each time a new one comes out.
By the way, Matt, do you follow "Order of the Stick" over at Giant in the Playground. Keith Baker likes to throw in the occasional flumph. Always good for a laugh.
I do actually! That's why I looked it up. It bothered the crap outta me that I didn't remember what it was. I had my whole D&D group looking for it.
It's Rich Berlew though, I think, isn't it?
Crap, you're right. I was mixing up Burlew with his archnemesis. Both were in the top 3 in the new campaign setting contest WotC ran a few years ago. Of course, Baker won with Eberron. Man, my mind is slipping. Getting old sucks.
Ah, that's right! I knew I knew that name...
I remembered reading about that whole contest, I thought it was sorta bs that submission of a setting meant you gave up your rights to it... so if you submitted your setting and lost, you could not use it anywhere else.
